The Vijay-starrer Leo, which was released in theatres after a lot of controversies, is trying to maintain its hold at the box office. However, the lukewarm response from the audience suggests that it will be hard for the film to cross Jailer’s lifetime collection of Rs 604 crore. Leo, on its eighth day in theatres, collected Rs 10.25 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. This takes the film’s nett domestic collection to Rs 265.6 crore.
On day eight, Leo reported 25.92% Tamil occupancy with evening shows getting the most traffic. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s film has almost 900 shows in Chennai and the occupancy rate in the city was around 33%. Leo’s worldwide gross collection currently stands at Rs 464.3 crore. As per trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the film’s first week worldwide gross collection stood at Rs 461 crore.
Leo had a thunderous start at the box office, as the film grossed Rs 140 crore worldwide on its opening day. In the domestic market, the film made Rs 64.8 crore on the first day but saw a massive drop of around 44% on the second day. The film’s collection saw another big drop on the seventh day as it went down from Rs 30.7 crore on Tuesday to Rs 13.4 crore on Wednesday. It is yet to be seen if the film can record an uptick in its collections during the second weekend.

Leo is a part of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe) and it takes place after the events of Karthi’s Kaithi and Kamal Haasan’s Vikram. Lokesh is now going to start his next film with Rajinikanth soon, but it is yet to be known if that will also be a part of LCU. Leo also stars Sanjay Dutt and Trisha Krishnan.
