Despite facing tough competition from Rajkumar Hirani's SRK film Dunki, Salaar continues to assert its dominance at the box office and is on track to cross the Rs 40 crore mark in daily earnings on Saturday.
Prashanth Neel’s epic actioner Salaar, starring Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles, made an impressive debut on Friday, surpassing both expectations and Atlee Kumar’s Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan as the highest-grossing opener of 2023.
Meanwhile, despite facing tough competition from Rajkumar Hirani’s SRK film Dunki, Salaar continues to assert its dominance at the box office and is on track to cross the Rs 40 crore mark in daily earnings on Saturday.
As of 5 pm, the film has accumulated a nett collection of Rs 34.53 crore in the domestic market on December 23, bringing its total collection in India to Rs 120.65 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The overall occupancy in the Telugu market stands at an impressive 71.73 per cent, with morning shows recording 64.81 per cent and the rate rising to 78.64 during afternoon showings.
On its debut day, Salaar recorded a domestic nett of Rs 93.45 crore and, according to the film’s producers Hombale Films, a global gross of Rs 178.7 crore. Meanwhile, the film has also started witnessing outstanding advance bookings for Sunday, having already earned Rs 12.76 crore, with over 6 lakh tickets sold nationwide.
Of the total Rs 93.45 crore it made on Friday, Salaar’s Telugu version contributed Rs 69.5 crore, with the Hindi version bringing in Rs 15.75 crore. The Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada versions of the film contributed Rs 3.75 crore, Rs 3.55 crore and Rs 90 lakh, respectively.
Meanwhile, for its competitor Dunki, the situation appears grim as it only recorded Rs 13.76 crore on Day 3 until 5 pm. After earning Rs 29.2 crore on its debut day on December 21, Dunki’s domestic nett stood at Rs 20.5 crore on Saturday.
